Red Bars and Girl

Hi Everyone, I'm ecstatic that a new season of Project Runway has begun airing. Tonight the third episode is running, however I missed the first two episodes (due to work conflicts) so I watched the saved recordings this week. I'm in love with fashion and creativity! How many of you enjoy Project Runway? My dream is to, some year, attend Fashion Week in New York. I started designing a few dresses this year..... I dropped art off at the Puyallup Arts Festival last week, and I'm waiting to hear back which pieces were juried into the show, if any? I'm still refining my art site a bit, but Michael, my son, did an awesome job of getting the basic layout completed: www.lauriemillermodernart.com
Thanks ahead of time for looking at the art site.
I'm still getting my Facebook Fan Page out there too, so if you get a chance go to the page - push 'Like'.
Also, you can check out my Reverbnation page, which I am currently #8 on the Rock charts for Seattle.
I'm teaming up with a charity (whose mission is ending domestic violence in homes) where I'm donating a percentage of my CD sales and downloads. My song 'U Really Chose' was included on four CD compilations concerning domestic violence, and I played the 2005 'Take Back the Night' Festival at the University of Santa Barbara Festival which also dealt with domestic violence awareness.
I painted this small acrylic painting last night.
It is a beautiful day outside, so I'm off to see what magic occurs today.....

Ghouls with Mouths Open

Hi! I actually created this illustration last night, having been inspired by the Project Runway Finale. I really thought Mondo should have won. Oh well, I'm just not into that granola hippie fashion. Very boring, and not very runway high fashion. I have a super long day today including teaching and a gig with Granite Reign. Have a nice day! xxoo
I've linked Elton John's 'Your Song' to this posting.

Angled Road

Hola! I'm glad that I'm home tonight. Yeah!!! It is so nice to have a few hours to think my own thoughts and dream my own dreams without constantly being bombarded with opinions from strangers I meet at the gigs in bars where I play. Yahooo. I also watched a current episode of Project Runway tonight. So cool. I feel like I'm finally getting my life back. I've linked a cool live video of The Doors to this posting. Nighty night. xxoo

Life's Labyrinth

Hi Everyone! I know it has been a few days since I posted, but I've been teaching everyday and then gigging in the evenings and
fighting a stomach bug. I'm so happy to have an evening at home - yeah. I watched the previously record Project Runway from last Thursday. This Thursday is the final Thursday jam at the Redline before they close the club. I'll be playing with Tim Turner and Billy Spaulding. Come on down and jam!

Pumping through corners
At break neck speeds
Years whizzing bye
Two steps forward
Ten skips back
All I can do is sit right down and laugh
Mountains or molehills
Sometimes pleasant scenes
Trying to make it to the end
With a modest amount of
Scrapes and screams

Spiral Hat

Buenos Noches. Congratulations to Sunny and Austin! I'm so happy to have a night off - yeah! I actually learned to sing and play on the guitar, 'I Started a Joke,' tonight which was inspired by Faith No More's version. Tonight's blog is influened by Project Runway Season 8 episode 4 and my friend Maureen's spiral drawing she emailed me. I then redrew the spiral in photoshop and expanded upon the image. Well, I just got called for a last minute gig tomorrow with Tim Turner, so nighty night. xxoo

But the words are garbled

Alphabet Stew

Hi Everyone I'm so extremely happy that I get a night off tonight. Yahoo! Finally I get a chance to read and create. I watched the previously recorded, from Thursday of last week, Project Runway of this new Season 8 last night after my gig. I was too physically exhausted however to post my blog posting, so here is what I drew during my gig and then wrote last night/early morning. My son and I have been busy rearranging the back room, so that we can set up my home recording studio. Hopefully then I will be able to add the music creation part of this blog. Nighty night!. xxoo

Funny Tummy

Buenos Noches! I'm watching a previously recorded Project Runway from last Thursday. This show depicts the beginning of Season 8. Even though I'm feeling a bit under the weather, I'm posting a quick blurb to my blog. I am really really happy that I'm home tonight. Ahhh. Night night. xxoo

Banana Island

Hi Everyone! I finally get a night off after teaching today. Yeah!!! I finished watching Project Runway Season 7 finale an hour ago. I thought all the collections exhibited a high level of design and quality. Seth Aaron was the winner. Even though Seth Aaron is a Washington boy, I personally liked Emilio Sosa's collection the best. My number one attraction to Emilio's collection was his use of color, beautiful! I'm so tired of these black and white collections ending up as the winning collections. I think making a cohesive collection using color is by far a more difficult challenge to accomplish. Congratulations to all the designers and their creative collections: Seth Aaron, Emilio Sosa, and Mila Hermanovski. Therefore my inspiration for tonight's posting is Project Runway, and a dream I woke up with about a small banana island. I must have been hungry when I went to sleep? Here is my posting, and a sign off from Tim Gunn "make it work!" (Happy birthday Goldy - hope it was a great gig!) Nighty night. xxoo

Banana Island
Banana Island
Only 10k long
And 1 half mile wide
Banana Island is where
The wild Jibby Jabby monkeys reside
Even though over
100 banana tress grow
On the island
The Jibby Jabby monkeys
Keep nibbling at its sides
One day soon I fear
The Jibby Jabby monkeys
Will be swimming
While crying banana size tears

Just a Fwogie

Hi Everyone. Still sicker than a dog with this cold, and I'm really glad I don't have gigs this weekend so that I can rest. I only taught a few lessons today, and for the first time in awhile I was able to play the piano. It felt wonderful! My inspiration for today/tonight's blog posting is the frog. My friend Susan informed me that it is national frog month, so I'm revisiting the frog topic. My other writer friend Susan shared an article about frogs with me, and here are some of the highlights: frogs represent transformation through water and sound, and frogs have been linked to abundance and fertility, magic, rain, the control of weather, and the moon. My drawing is also inspired, a wee bit, by Project Runway. Project Runway is whittled down to the final three designers, and the final Bryant Park showing is next week. My poem is lyrics from my 'Just a Frog' song - CDbaby link:
http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/lauriemiller2dd
and my youtube link to my video: http://www.youtube.com/lauriemillerband#p/u/4/dxsjav852qE Nighty night. xxoo

Just a Frog

I should have never jumped
in your pond
Even tried waving
my magic wand
You changed a little for a week or four
but you went back to drinking even more

Hop, hop, hop, hop, hop, ho
Hop, hop, hop, hop, hop, ho

Bye and bey our journey
got worse
Lies were croaking
from lips that cursed
One plastic lily on
valentines
No diamond ring
no, not this time

Oh scooby do and la, la, la
Hippity hop if I fall off your log
Croaky crow
and ha, ha, ha
it doesn't matter
You're still just a frog

I kissed a frog wishing he'd be my prince
A frog he stayed now I just wince

I guess we were wrong all along
Time to leap this frog
to my new pond

Oh scooby do and la, la, la
Hippity hop if I fall off your log
Croaky crow
and ha, ha, ha
it doesn't matter
You're still just a frog

Bass Girl

Hola! Okay, I remember hearing the birds chirping while I lay in bed this morning. I was still awake, from too much coffee, and it must have been about 6 am. Therefore, I probably obtained about 2 hours of sleep before embarking on my day. I taught some violin and guitar lessons today, and my son came home from college. Returning from my gig tonight with the band Brainstorm in Lynnwood, I watched Thursday's Project Runway show. It was exciting because this is the last challenge before the designers show their collections at Bryant Park. The four designers picked for the final show are: Emilio Sosa, Jay Nicolas Sario, Mila Hermanovski, and Seth Aaron Henderson. My inspiration is derived from the Project Runway show and from playing bass at so many gigs. Love to all. Nighty night. xxoo

Bass Girl

Do you need someone
To bow and pluck
Your strings?
Do you need someone
To complete your duet
And make your music sing

Who will the magic carpet bring?

Nibble, Nibble, Nibble

Hi Everybody. I didn't post my blog last night due to illness. I've been fighting a terrible stomach flu. I still feel 'out of it' and hope to get some rest after this posting. I don't have a gig till tomorrow night. I did create my illustration last night while watching a recorded version of Project Runway from Thursday April 1st. My posting is also inspired by Alexander McQueen who committed suicide at the age of 40 on Feb. 11th, 2010. Alexander, or 'Lee' as known by his friends, had a thing for the dramatic and the macabre. I think Alexander would have enjoyed my Termite dress. Tomorrow I shall create a posting dedicated to my parents. Till tomorrow. xxoo.

Nibble, Nibble, Nibble
Nibble, nibble, nibble
Termites chewing on me
I’m experiencing
Holes in my seams
Nibble, nibble, nibble
Crawling all over me
I’m creating
A horrible scary scene
Nibble, nibble, nibble
I’m flying away
Hoping I’m heading in a
Safe direction
To escape harms way

Will Your Key?

Hi everybody! Okay, super duper double trouble tired tonight. Ugh! Made it through the gig at Stewarts - mow my arm is about to fall off. I watched my Project Runway rerun right now as I created this blog. The 'key' inspiration is a continuation from yesterday's blog posting. I still couldn't find my poem that I wrote at Redline, so here is a quicky for tonight's posting. Nighty night.

Will Your Key?
Will your key
Unlock my heart
Will it turn and click
In all the right parts
Currently shut tight
From a lack of trust
I hope my
Ancient lock
Won’t rust
