Hopeful Imagining

Hi Everyone. I have been a slacker. Oh well. It is my birthday week. I actually finally slept for more than two hours, and I'm feeling a lot better. My mind starts wandering down the road of negativitly without enough z's. I played with Tim Turner and Billy Spaulding at the Redline jam in West Seattle last night. Tim threw a birthday party for me. He is the best at making people feel adored. I hope to post another blog entry tonight, since I really wrote and painted this posting when I arrived home after my gig this morning. However, I fell asleep before posting it this morning. This posting is inspired by a fairy necklace with a bottle of real fairy dust attached that Tim gave me last night. Hopefully this weekend I can figure out my music posting bug so I can start my music postings next week. Have a nice day!!!!

Hopeful Imagining

I implore
My heart and mind
I scrupulously explore
What do I really desire?
Mental stimulation
Or someone to light my fire
My hopeful imaging
Is one day, maybe, hopefully?
They will occupy
The same kind package

Light of the Woods

Hola! Well, I survived my 29th (just kidding) birthday yesterday. I didn't really do much but teach all day and evening. Yippey kiya! Anyway, since I haven't had even an hour to myself for over a week now, I'm going to use my favorite acrylic painting that I painted this past year as my inspiration for tonight's blog. Hopefully I'll be able to sleep more than two hours tonight. Nighty night. xxoo

Light of the Woods
Light of the woods
Guide my footsteps
To tread lightly on a path
Ending at new destination
Guide my words
To say and write
With love and kindness,
Never hate
Guide my actions
To help and serve myself and others
With love and care
Guide my thoughts
To stay positive and pure
Saturated with compassion and forgiveness
Light of the woods
Lift my life
To a new energy level
Filled with peace not strife

Holes in My Memories

Hi! Disclaimer: I'm going on my fourth or fifth day of only obtaining about two to three hours sleep, so if there are grammatical or spelling errors I'll correct them later. My son cooked me a delicious spaghetti birthday dinner, and he bought me a carrot cake; Yum! I was looking at some baby pictures with my son, and I stumbled upon a scrapbook of my earlier music career days. I was excited to find a autograph from John Entwistle (bass player from 'The Who.) Sal's friend, Steve Smith created the video for the 1996 Quadrophenia tour, and I hung out with Steve and members of 'The Who' for a couple of the shows. John Entwistle was a huge influence on my bass playing style. John passed away in 2002. My inspiration for my blog posting tonight was the baby pictures and the scrapbook. I'm including also a scan of John's autograph. Nighty night. xxoo

Holes in My Memories
Holes in my memories
Staring at me
When?
Who?
What?
Where and when?
I search my impaired brain
For a place to begin
Can I remember?
Maybe?
Maybe not?
I pray a few good
Recollections remain
And help me recall
Long lost friends
Once again

My Son

Hola. Since it is 3:30 am, and I'm beyond exhaustion - here is another quicky. I was going to watch the finale of Project Runway for tonight's blog inspiration, since I missed the show Thursday night due a gig, but I'm going to wait till tomorrow so that I'm not too tired to enjoy the show. All my students that I taught today are incredibly talented and inspiring. My wonderful son helped me teach my violin student this morning and he is going to cook me a birthday dinner tomorrow before going back to school, thus he is my inspiration for my blog posting. The illustration is a drawing of the beach where Michael, my son, and I enjoy hiking to.
Nighty night. xxoo

My Son
Thanks Michael for being my son
For loving me
When others are done
Thanks for letting me
Take care of you
Thanks for allowing me
To be your mother too
You are the kindest, wisest,
Smartest, nicest and most moral man I know
You are my favorite birthday present ever
Always know

Walking on My Hands

Hi Everyone, boy, okay, I won't say it - I'm so _____. I'm looking forward to Sunday night when I get a little break. I finished my third gig tonight with Brainstorm at the Timberline in Granite Falls, and I only have one more to go tomorrow/Sat. however you look at the earlier morning time which is still Friday to me since I haven't gone to sleep yet. I'm happy my son is home from college. Yahooey! I do have to wake up early tomorrow - later this morning - to teach all day till I leave for my gig, so I'll make this quick! Thanks for reading and looking at my blog. Nighty night! xxoo

Space Between My Ears

Alrighty, I'm home from the Redline, West Seattle gig with Tim Turner and Billy Spaulding. Can't feel my left arm, so it is difficult to type. I'm still not sure what the left arm numbing problem is due to yet? My inspiration for tonight's blog posting is the movie 'Spaceballs'
which was on TV when I arrived home. What a comedic genius Mel Brooks is!!! Okay, I need to obtain some shut eye.
Nighty night. xxoo

Traveling at the
Pace of a retarded slug
I enter my head at a
Variety of hours
Laying on my back
With my fingers
Shaping O’s
Chanting the word representing God – Ah
For a half hour or so
I usually fall asleep from exhaustion
Performing this ritual now
For three years or so
I wonder if it is
Manifesting anything positive
Or if my brain

Lead Me To...

Hi Everyone. Ah, this cold is still hanging on in my head even though my energy is better. I played a gig with Tim Turner and Billy Spaulding tonight at Pike Place Bar & Grill. The clams were awesome! I heard from my favorite artist/designer friend Betty tonight - Happy Birthday (a couple of days late!) We are both born in April, we went to CCAC (now CCA) and we worked at Landor in San Francisco. My son is coming home tomorrow for my birthday on Monday. Yeah! The cat really appreciates it when he is home. Well, here is my brain dead creativity inspired by a picture I like, which I quickly did a watercolor of and then wrote the little poem. Nighty night. xxoo

Lead Me To…..
Lead me to abundance
Lead me to peace
Lead me to
A place of pure kindness and compassion
Lead me with ease
Lead me to
Friends who are true
Lead me to a family
Where I can renew
Lead me to
My highest goal
Spiritual evolution
To unconditional love to all

Creative Harmony

Hi Everyone! I hope you are all well? My sleep pattern has been thrown way off lately, and I think it is due to my cold medicine. I've been falling asleep around 4, 5, or 6 am, and then I only sleep for a couple of hours before I wake up. My cold is getting better. I just have that wonderful nagging cough left. I taught a ton of piano and one violin lesson today, thus is my inspiration for my blog posting tonight. Hopefully I can read a little bit before passing out tonight. My friend Carol gave me the 'Eat, Pray, Love' book by Elizabeth Gilbert over two years ago, and I've been stuck in India, which is the middle of the book,
for sometime now. I really want to finish reading the book before the movie version, staring Julia Roberts, premieres.
Nighty night. xxoo

Koala, Koala

Hi Everyone. I fell asleep before posting last night. Cold medicine with antihistamine hits me fast. I watched the movie 'Impromptu' the other night. The movie illustrates the affair of George Sand and Chopin plus it depicts how artist of the 19th Century lived. I find the movie very inspiring to my artistic soul. My blog posting for last night/this morning (I'm allowing a little cross over time period) is inspired once again by my paint wipings. Another Rorschach test if you please. When I was looking at my smudges of discarded paint, I couldn't get the image of a koala out of my mind. Besides teaching everyday, and then gigs four nights this week coming up, I'm focusing on getting my larger artistic goals in three different areas of the arts (music, painting, writing) organized and implemented. Off to my busy day. xxoo

Koala, Koala
Koala, Koala
Sitting in a tree
What are you up to?
Eating Eucalyptus leaves?
Koala, koala,
We have so much in common
You are a solitary fellow
And I wish I lived in Australia
You sleep during the day
And then you
Chew, chew, chew
Your nights away
We both have slow metabolic rates
And we rarely go out on dates
We both were hunted
Almost to extinction
But now we are
Healing and returning
To full function

The Green Puppy Hero

Hi Everyone!!! This early morning posting was inspired by my watercolor paint discards. The illustration was derived from my own self imposed Rorschach test which I stared at until I saw the image of a flying green puppy. The Rorschach inkblot is a psychological test in which subjects' perceptions of inkblots are recorded using psychological interpretation. I'm feeling a little better today, but I've been moving slow and I had to scrape myself out of bed to finish my posting. Nighty night. xxoo

The Green Puppy Hero
The green puppy hero
Zooming through the air
At the speed of light
From Paris to Tokyo
From Anchorage to Mazatlan
From here to there
From on and on
Removing negativity
Disguised as little red bunnies
Spotting them with x-ray eyes
And attracting them with honey
It is a sticky, sticky, sticky mess
But the green puppy hero is
A clever hunter
With the fluid movements
Of a Tai kwon-do master
She extracts her prey
Upwards and onwards
The green puppy hero
Removes red bunnies
At least 10,000 per day

Just a Fwogie

Hi Everyone. Still sicker than a dog with this cold, and I'm really glad I don't have gigs this weekend so that I can rest. I only taught a few lessons today, and for the first time in awhile I was able to play the piano. It felt wonderful! My inspiration for today/tonight's blog posting is the frog. My friend Susan informed me that it is national frog month, so I'm revisiting the frog topic. My other writer friend Susan shared an article about frogs with me, and here are some of the highlights: frogs represent transformation through water and sound, and frogs have been linked to abundance and fertility, magic, rain, the control of weather, and the moon. My drawing is also inspired, a wee bit, by Project Runway. Project Runway is whittled down to the final three designers, and the final Bryant Park showing is next week. My poem is lyrics from my 'Just a Frog' song - CDbaby link:
http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/lauriemiller2dd
and my youtube link to my video: http://www.youtube.com/lauriemillerband#p/u/4/dxsjav852qE Nighty night. xxoo

Just a Frog

I should have never jumped
in your pond
Even tried waving
my magic wand
You changed a little for a week or four
but you went back to drinking even more

Hop, hop, hop, hop, hop, ho
Hop, hop, hop, hop, hop, ho

Bye and bey our journey
got worse
Lies were croaking
from lips that cursed
One plastic lily on
valentines
No diamond ring
no, not this time

Oh scooby do and la, la, la
Hippity hop if I fall off your log
Croaky crow
and ha, ha, ha
it doesn't matter
You're still just a frog

I kissed a frog wishing he'd be my prince
A frog he stayed now I just wince

I guess we were wrong all along
Time to leap this frog
to my new pond

Oh scooby do and la, la, la
Hippity hop if I fall off your log
Croaky crow
and ha, ha, ha
it doesn't matter
You're still just a frog

Alien Guitar World

Hi Everyone! Okay, I actually have a Friday night off - yahooey. After my gig last night, I posted my blog, obtained about two hours of sleep, and then worked on finishing a drawing and a painting before teaching a couple of lessons. I then had an hour and a half to complete the art pieces and submit to the Edmonds art festival online before teaching a violin and guitar lesson. My cold is feeling worse tonight, so I'm going to drink another Theraflu and hit the hay. Nighty night. xxoo

Weird Energy

Okey schmookey. I'm home from my Tim Turner jam tonight at the Redline in West Seattle with Billy Spaulding on drums. I always enjoy hearing a lot of talent play at the jam. It is now 2:45 am, and after posting my blog I need to finish my river painting for the Edmonds art festival deadline tomorrow. I can't believe I'm still awake since I had double dose of severe cold medicine along with a Theraflu. I'm going to sleep well tomorrow night. Night night. xxoo

Beautiful River

Hi everyone, my schedule has been thrown off by this cold I'm fighting. I took some Theraflu last night, thus I fell asleep before I posted my makeup blog. My son, Michael, achieved Honor Roll at Central Washington University College of Business for the Winter 2010 term. I'm so proud of him, and if you get a chance - check out his photography blog: http://northwestphotoman.blogspot.com/2010/04/woot.html
My inspiration for my blog posting tonight is my painting of the Stillaguamish river. The Stillaguamish river is a wonderul river here in the pacific northwest, which is great for fly fishing or floating on. The Edmonds art festival deadline is Friday, so I need to finish the painting of the river tonight if I'm going to submit it by Friday. Night night. xxoo

Integrating with rocks
With the greatest of ease

Sniffing Around

Alrighty, I fell asleep early this morning while I was reading, therefore my late blog posting. I've got to get on with my day, and since Tuesdays are my longest teaching days....So long farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye... See you later this evening.

Sniffing Around

Two Bald Eagles

Hi Everyone. I taught lessons earlier today after acquiring two hours of sleep, so, yeah you guessed it, I'm feeling very exhausted.
My son and I went for a walk this afternoon after teaching my lessons, and much to our amazement we spotted two bald eagles flying in our neighborhood. We have never seen them in our area before. One of the blessings of living in the beautiful northwest is the wonderful wildlife, and I personally love the abundance of evergreen trees. The bald eagle is the United States national bird symbol, but the birds almost became extinct due to the pesticides which collect in fish. Fortunately the bald eagles are rebounding due to saving wildlife programs, and they have since been upgraded from the endangered to the threatened list. The life expectancy of wild eagles is 30 years, and the are believed to mate for life. I might actually get to sleep before 3 am, so nighty night. xxoo

Dark Before Dawn

Hi Everyone. My inspiration for tonight's blog posting is my friend Susan's name for her coffee, 'Dark Before Dawn.' I taught lessons today and then I played a gig about an hour away from my house in Maple Valley, WA with the band Brainstorm. My arm is super tingly and numb tonight. I still have to reschedule my follow up blood test clinic appointment, since they double booked me. Ah state compensated health care: clinics with no real doctors, only nurse practitioners, and you could be standing in their lobby bleeding to death and they would schedule you an appointment two months out. It is almost 3 am and I need to get up in a few hours for another long day of teaching, so ..... nighty night. xoxoxo

Bass Girl

Hola! Okay, I remember hearing the birds chirping while I lay in bed this morning. I was still awake, from too much coffee, and it must have been about 6 am. Therefore, I probably obtained about 2 hours of sleep before embarking on my day. I taught some violin and guitar lessons today, and my son came home from college. Returning from my gig tonight with the band Brainstorm in Lynnwood, I watched Thursday's Project Runway show. It was exciting because this is the last challenge before the designers show their collections at Bryant Park. The four designers picked for the final show are: Emilio Sosa, Jay Nicolas Sario, Mila Hermanovski, and Seth Aaron Henderson. My inspiration is derived from the Project Runway show and from playing bass at so many gigs. Love to all. Nighty night. xxoo

Cup of Joe

Hi everyone. Okay, it is 3:30 am, and I have a splitting headache. Played the gig at Redline in West Seattle with Tim Turner and Rick Spano. Fun jam, but long night. I told myself that i was going to cut back on my coffee consumption to one cup a day, and I ended up drinking five cups today. Ahhhhh! I guess better than drinking booze, I think? Tonight's blog is inspired by my friend Susan who has been busy trying to think of a new coffee name for Gevalia's coffee naming contest. Okay, nighty night - if I can sleep. xxoo

First Tulips of Spring

Hola! Well, it is 1:30 am. Yeah, this is the earliest I'll be getting to sleep in quite a while. Can't wait, so, yeah, another super duper quicky. I taught some piano and bass lessons today, and I noticed my first tulip in my front yard. Thus, my creative inspiration for my blog tonight. Nighty night. xxoo

Snake in a Petri Dish

Hola. Okay, it is about 2:30 am while I'm posting my blog. I had my long day of teaching, and then I was absorbed with my new studio set up. I actually recorded my first midi piece of music with this set up - yeah. Now I need to figure out how to upload it to my blog. Probably by next week, since I have a couple 20 hour work days coming up. This blog is inspired by my son's pet snake, Silas. It is a corn snake which is a North American species of rat snake. Corn snakes use constriction to subdue their prey. Silas is about 4 feet in length. Need to finish some projects tomorrow, so nighty night. xxoo

My Vampire Phone Buddies

Hi Everyone. I can barely see my computer screen right now at 3 am, so if there are typos and grammatical errors it is because I'm both retarded and legally blind. As I read in my son's blog tonight - http://northwestphotoman.blogspot.com/2010/04/opening-day.html, today was the opening season of MLB (Major League Baseball.) The Seattle Mariners won 5 -3 over the Oakland A's!
For my blog postings I made major headway tonight in getting the music set up. I'll bet a dollar I'll have the music added to my blog by next week. Tonight's posting was inspired by my vampire phone buddies ( people I talk to from 10 pm - usually after midnight on), Susan & Maureen. My other not as frequent vampire phone buddies are: Cindi, Melody and Sal. Kudos to you all!
xxoo Nighty night.

My Vampire Phone Buddies

Calling me
Before the sun rises
Almost every night
Or, I’m calling them
While driving my car (bad little vampy)
To and from my gigs
Chatting about this and that

Most of them live
Several thousand miles away
But it seems like
I saw their faces just yesterday
My vampire phone buddies
Are my soul mates for sure

Unga Woomga Zooba

Hi. Okay, I know I was going to write my blog posting dedicated to my parents today, but I'm too tired after my gig right now at 3 am. Therefore, here is a little diddie I created inspired by a name I heard on 94.9 Seattle Public Radio as I was driving home.
