Purple Girl

Hola! I'm so happy to be home tonight. Yahooey! I taught lessons this morning, and then Michael and I worked in our front yard for a couple of hours. The front garden was in desperate need of some TLC. The beautiful gladiolus flowers are currently blooming in our garden, and I hope I get a chance to paint a picture of them before their demise. Nighty night. xxoo

Purple Girl
Purple girl
Worn on a green shoe
Waiting for a chance
To come unglued
And sprint away
To a brighter day
They have not a clue
That the purple girl
Has dumbed down herself
That is why she is hiding like a mouse
Deep inside her house
Praying for new pair of shoes
That will take away her blues
And create new soothing sounds
Pleasing to how she will choose

1,700 Emails

Hola! My first Friday night off in awhile. Yahooey. I've linked the title of my blog to She Talks to Angels by the Black Crowes. What a great song. Pretty melody. I was in the studio yesterday with Dr. Z and Sheldon. Both of them are great talents and great guys to work with. We layed down seven songs in four hours including a rough tracking of my original song, 'I Shouldn't Have To'. I really like how the song sounded recorded, and I can't wait to produce it right. As my poem below says, I have a ton of things to catch up on, so - nighty night. xxoo

1,700 Emails
1,700 emails to answer
A cat to feed
Laundry piled a mile high
A kitchen floor
I can’t even see
My body is in severe need of exercise
My brain in need of sleep before my demise
Facebook friends waiting for my confirmation
And my smile has turned to a frown
Working 24/7/365
Has crushed my soul and dreams
And destroyed my mind’s eye
But I heard at the grocery store
A song singing, “Don’t give up,” in the background
So, I’ll wash myself off
Realign to a strand of positive energy
Visualize a brighter future
Change this hand of cards I’m holding
To a royal flush
And bottom line
I won’t fall for nobody’s bluff

Hanging From the Moon

Hi. Home from my gig with Doug & Lloyd at the Oddfellow's jam in Redmond. I'm ready to pass out. mmm. Recording tomorrow with Dr. Z and Seldon, so I better get some sleep. Nighty night. xxooo

Hanging From The Moon
Hanging from the moon
Stepping on a tree
I slipped into a sugarcoated coma
By the big red sea
Only to emerge on the other side of 9 pm
Playing another gig
Once again

Tres Exes

Hi! My brother left this morning, and I am feeling beyond tired, oh I don't know maybe beyond is somewhere in the Twilight Zone. I taught lessons till almost 10 pm tonight, and I have a ton of house duties and paper work to catch up on, not to mention in desperate need of some sleep, so nighty night. xxoo

Tres Exes
Tres Exes
Leave me with
A new disease called Perplexes
What should I do
Buy myself a blue blouse
Rent a Lexus
Drive through the desert breathless
And plunge myself
Into a six foot tall
Purple cactus

Break Time

Hi Everyone. Just a quick not to say that I will post my poem and illustration tomorrow. My brother is leaving in the morning, so I need to get up early. I had my gig with Dr. Z and the MDs at the J & M in Pioneer Square. It is still musically a blast even though we had to turn down our volume. Today my son, brother, and I went for a three mile hike, then we took a ferry ride to Kington, I taught a lesson, and played a gig. I can't wait to get a chance to recharge my batteries. I'm in need of a good dose of spirituality.
I think I get a break this coming weekend. yeah!!!

Inner Music

Hi everyone. Yet another super busy day teaching all day, and then spending time with my brother and son tonight. We played my favorite game, Scrabble, and we watched the movie 'Up in the Air.' I have a gig tomorrow with Gary and the Blue Peeps,
so I need to get some rest. Nighty night. xxoo

Inner Music
Reevaluating
Reassessing
Old Paths
Creating new visions
To descend
Being true
To my inner music
Growing strong
To stay on track
Hiking up my winding trail
At my personal pace
That of a disabled snail

E Poem

Hi Everyone. I arrived home about an hour ago from a gig at Oddfellow's in Redmond playing with Doug McGrew and Lloyd. It is extremely difficult for me to see the screen tonight because my normal glasses are too crunched to wear. Here is another quicky posting, but I hope it is better than nothing. My brother is coming to visit tomorrow and I still have a ton a cleaning to do, so nighty night. xxoo

Yo Yo

Hola! Okay, I'm really burned out, but in a good way. I just (even though I know 'just' is not a great grammatical choice word) arrived home from my gig at the J & M in Pioneer Square with Dr. Z, guitar and vocals and Sheldon on drums. I love the gig musically. We have great chemistry as a group. Tomorrow, or later today - depending if you've been to sleep or not, I have to teach private students for about eight hours, and Michael & I are busy getting ready for my brother coming to stay on Wed., so I'll have to finish my post manana........... Nighty night. xxoo

Girl with Two Heads - Part 2

Hi. The title of this blog is linked to a mysterious youtube video. This blog posting is a continuation of yesterdays post. It was inspired by my bff Maureen Spranza's dream. This blog posting is also my first collaboration, and I'm thinking of having more collaborative postings and guest postings in the near future. Maureen had a dream about a stick figure guy holding the hand of a stick figure girl with two heads. Maureen looked up the meaning of her dream at www.dreammoods.com. The site said that dreaming of an image with two heads means that you need to ask for help. It also means that two heads are better than one, and to not try and do everything yourself. Maureen is a prime example of doing everything herself, and she does a great job of it. She is a single mother of two young girls, she is working on her phd degree related to music education, she has a full time job as a music teacher in the California public school system, and she teaches private music lessons on the side. Maureen and I met when I lived in the Bay Area. She was working on her Master's Degree in Electronic Music and Recording from Mills College. We first met playing in a band called Kattrax. After that Maureen and I played in other original music projects, and she has always been my vampire phone buddy. Maureen also graduated from Berklee School of music with a degree in jazz composing. The sax is her main instrument. As for the collaborative part of this blog, Maureen sent me her drawing as she saw it in her head. I then wrote the poem Girl with Two Heads complimenting her dream, I painted a print of her picture, and I created variations of the drawing in photoshop. The black and white drawing is Maureen's original drawing in this posting. Thanks Maureen. Rock on!!!! I'm so happy to be back on the road to focusing on my original music again.
Kudos to Gary and his first gig as a band leader today. You were awesome!!! Nighty night. xxoo

Girl With Two Heads
Girl with two heads
What do you dread?
Asking for help,
Or sleeping in a bed covered
With dirty kelp?
Are two heads better than one,
Or is making a decision
Beyond confusing and
Leaves you feeling dumb?
Girl with two heads
Maybe it is time
To ask for some assistance
Before your life
Becomes a puddle of gooey slime
From all of your resistance

Girl with Two Heads

Hi Everyone! Another bff of mine who lives in the Bay Area, Maureen, had a dream last night of a girl with two heads. I would think that the two heads symbolizes dualism or schizophrenia or something along those lines, but the dream interpretation book says it means..................... I shall finish this posting tomorrow since I have a gig at 10 am and I need to get some sleep. Nighty night. xxoo

Burned Out

Hola! Home from another hmmmm - well I guess gig. My poem says it all rather blatantly. The title of this blog is linked to Talking Head's version of Burning Down the House. The Talking Heads band was a huge influence on me when I lived in California. I live in this world of limitations right now up here in Seattle. They don't want to hear anything new or different. Everything has to sound like what you've heard before. Ho hummm. Time for me to leave I think - okay, I know.
Super long day tomorrow - nighty night. xxoo

Burned Out

Wiped out
Punched out
Exhausted
Pass the point of refueling
Overworked
With no time for play
Past time for a change

A Penny For Your Thoughts

Hi everyone! The title of this blog is linked to a cool early video of Led Zeppelin performing Dazed and Confused. I am really happy today because my interaction with other human beings was limited. Yeah. I really miss reading, painting my nails, playing the piano, writing songs, painting water colors, creating, meditating, and spending time with myself. If I had a million dollars, I would stay home and be alone more often. I really miss the opportunity to be creative. Hopefully my world will change toward that direction sooner than later. I'm still in need of rest and recovery, so nighty night. xxoo

To redirect my compass and
Experience distant territories

Walking Red Table

Ahhh. My feet are throbbing and my muscles are cramping. I missed several days of postings to my blog due to a massive amount of gigs, eight gigs in six days to be exact, an enormous about of students to teach, plus helping my son set up our garage sale on both Friday and Saturday. My son, Michael, became engaged to his girlfriend Stephanie on Sunday July 11th. They are both wonderful, kind, positive people and I'm happy for them both. My mother, Shirley, who passed away a few years ago, would have celebrated her 81st birthday on July 10th. On Sunday I played two benefit gigs; one benefit at the New Orleans in Pioneer Square was for Charles White (lead singer of the Charles White band - who I used to play bass with) is fighting bone cancer, and the other benefit held at The Hard Rock Cafe was for Norm Belles (keyboardist, trombonist) who fell off a roof and broke his neck.
I sweated so much at these gigs that when I came home I left my bass in the car. The Monday night gig at the J & M with Dr. Z and the MDs is going great! Musically it is my favorite gig. Desperately seeking sleep! Nighty night. xxoo

Walking Red Table
Walking red table
Where are you going?
Up a caramel colored hill
Or down to a new club
Where everybody
Is wearing purple kilts
A mini man
Jumped into the empty stew pot
And a vampire dog
Is chomping on one green leg
The red walking table
Is having a very strange day

Special Bubbles

Hi everyone! Okay, I missed another day of posting to my blog yesterday, but my body was in so much pain after my Monday J & M gig I had to lay down as soon as I arrived home. Today was my incredibly long never ending day of teaching. Okay, so it did end at some point because here I am. I do need some shut eye though. This week I'm playing six in seven days, so I'm going to bed. Nighty night. xxoo

Green Bubbles
Special bubbles
Toil and trouble
Wash my cares away
Sweet smell of Channel
Covers my body’s decay
Special bubbles
Zestful chuckles
My heart you do sway

Dong a Long Bird

Hola. Happy 4th of July one and all!!! The title of this blog posting is linked to the youtube video of 'Fleetwood Mac's - 'The Chain.' The first cover band that I played in down in the Bay Area performed a lot of Fleetwood Mac, so this song reminds me of that time period. Tonight I arrived home about an hour ago from playing a gig with Tim Turner and Billy Spaulding at The Lighthouse in Des Moines. Fun gig musically, but I really don't like hanging in bars anymore. My tolerance and patience has worn see through thin when dealing with ignorant statements and drunks. Time for a change. Oh well, it takes all kinds of people to keep life interesting - NOT!
My son and I had a wonderful trip to the Olympic mountains on Saturday. We explored about four different areas including Hurricane Ridge and Dungeness Spit. Once Michael has posted his photos from our trip to a site, I'll link this blog to them.
Nighty night. xxoo

Dong a Long Bird
Dong a long bird
Singing a ding a ling song
About the sorrows of life
All day and night long
The dong a long bird
Can do no wrong
While she chirps
Her ding a ling song
Even adding
A jig or two
To keep her busy
Instead of
Swimming in blue

Half n Half

Hi. I've linked the title of this blog to another one of my favorite songs - Sinead O'Connor's version of Prince's song - Nothing Compares 2 U. I fell in love with this song down in the Bay Area, umm due to personal reasons of how I felt about a certain person at the time. I'm taking a personal day with my son tomorrow, so I'm going to bed early. Yeah, I might get a normal amount of sleep for once. Nighty night. xxoo

Half n Half
Half n half
With half a laugh
Off to see
Sights of wannabes
Tragedy and comedy
Forgo originality
Diminish please my clarity
Comprehending
Manipulative techniques
Laid before me
On a silver platter
My tolerance wears thin
Time for more laughter
The only way my soul can win

Opinionated Corn

Hi. My song/youtube link to the title of my blog tonight is, U2's 'With or Without You.' I love this song. We used to perform this song in the band I used to play with in the Bay Area. Boy I hate feeling in limbo like I do right now. I can't wait to move on to a new level in my career which is more challenging and where I can grow and learn again. I've been stagnate for too long now, and I'm starting to grow mold. Where's my attitude of gratitude? I don't know it flew out the window. It is hard to have a good attitude when I am underpaid and devalued. I feel like I'm living in twilight zone, or I'm living in a continuous bad groundhog day where I can't wake up. This blog posting is dedicated to my favorite food substance - corn. Nighty night. xxoo

Opinionated Corn
Opinionated corn
Tooting your annoying horn
To ears that don’t want to hear
Your self -righteous opinions
Covering your fears
Listen Mr. Corn
Shut off your blow horn
Mr. Opinionated Corn
If you keep yapping you’re your lips to morn
You will turn into sloppy buttery popcorn

Ephemeral Tree

Hi. I'm feeling a little blue, so here is my poem and illustration for today. Nighty night. xxoo

Ephemeral Tree
Ephemeral tree
Do you feel cold
When it is windy?
Do you drink Chai tea
Every other Tuesday?
Do you stand tall
And worthy?
Or do you bend weepy and weary?
Ephemeral tree
Please answer me
Will you soon leave
In a pink taxi?
Will you end
Working in a toothpick factory?
Ephemeral tree what will the future bring?
When will you get a chance to sing?
