Cat Scratch

Hi everyone! I taught lessons from noon - 6 pm, and then I played a gig (an hour drive from my house) down in Des Moines hosting a jam with at The LIghthouse with Tim Turner and Billy Spaulding yesterday. I didn't make it back home, since the jam ran long, till 3 am. Ugh!
The Seahawks beat the Rams 16 to 6 yesterday. Yeah! The play off game is January 8th, Seahawks vs. New Orleans Saints. I woke up early today to make steak and eggs for my son before he left back to Central University. I taught some lessons this afternoon, and I woke up from a nap a little bit ago to paint this small acrylic painting and write this poem. I'm really looking forward to some new adventures in 2011. Nighty night. xxoo

Cat scratch
One more time
Meaning derived
From friction inside
Time away
Will repair
The sideways cuts
Growing length wise

Purple Girl

Hola! I'm so happy to be home tonight. Yahooey! I taught lessons this morning, and then Michael and I worked in our front yard for a couple of hours. The front garden was in desperate need of some TLC. The beautiful gladiolus flowers are currently blooming in our garden, and I hope I get a chance to paint a picture of them before their demise. Nighty night. xxoo

Purple Girl
Purple girl
Worn on a green shoe
Waiting for a chance
To come unglued
And sprint away
To a brighter day
They have not a clue
That the purple girl
Has dumbed down herself
That is why she is hiding like a mouse
Deep inside her house
Praying for new pair of shoes
That will take away her blues
And create new soothing sounds
Pleasing to how she will choose

Goofy Perspectives

Howdy. Well, I passed out before I could post my blog posting. After three hours of sleep yesterday, I taught lessons early in the morning, and then played a gig up in Arlington at The Stump with Brainstorm. On the way home I stopped by Tulalip casino and saw Randy Hansen (Jimi Hendrix impersonator) play. I have played with the drummer Rick Spano on and off for over ten years now. I hired Randy one year to play on my song, 'Take My Hand,' http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/lauriemiller2dd Randy is a great performer! I met my friend Lori there, and I did my drawing for this posting while sitting in the parking lot waiting for her to get there. We hung with my friend Eddie, who owns New CA Tavern. I have my last gig - five out of five days tonight at the J & M in Pioneer Square with Dr. Z and the MDs. I'm off to take a nap. Nighty night. xxoo

Goofy perspectives
Viewed through
Handprint tinted glasses
All aglow
Goofy perspectives
Twirling my mind around
Flowing through the atmosphere
Eventually ending
Smashed on the ground
Somewhere

Feeling Strange

Howdy. Okay, I missed my Saturday the 15th of May posting due to passing out on my bed with my light on. On Friday I worked for almost 16 hours with a majority of the work being physical in nature. I taught a few lessons yesterday and then passed out, and then I taught a few more lessons today. Yesterday my violin student Carla wanted to learn Kashmir. I never played the song before, but after going over it a few times I was able to play the song on the violin. It was fun jamming with Led Zepplin. Tonight's blog posting is inspired by my feelings and my weird drawing I created tonight. Nighty night. xxoo

Feeling Strange
Feeling strange
Coping with pain
Due to a self imposed
Lack of distraction
From my grief
Long buried
Deep inside of me
I finally have the courage
To open the closet
And let out the gunk residing in there
It stinks a lot
And angers me even more

First Tulips of Spring

Hola! Well, it is 1:30 am. Yeah, this is the earliest I'll be getting to sleep in quite a while. Can't wait, so, yeah, another super duper quicky. I taught some piano and bass lessons today, and I noticed my first tulip in my front yard. Thus, my creative inspiration for my blog tonight. Nighty night. xxoo
